World’s lowest voltage I2C™ EEPROM devices

Microchip’s most recent I2C™ EEPROM introductions feature an operating voltage down to 1.5V for both Read and Write operations, an operating frequency of 100 kHz at 1.5V and an operating current of well below 400 microamperes. In densities of 1K or 2 Kbits, the five new EEPROM devices are the first to support this low voltage level, making them ideal for designers looking to maximise battery life in their portable and handheld applications.

The 24VLXX family of EEPROMs. In densities of 1K or 2 Kbits, the five new EEPROM devices are the first to support this low voltage level. For design versatility, 24VL024 and 24VL025 are available with a full-array write protect, while the 24VL014H and 24VL024H devices support a half-array write protect.

With an operating frequency of 100 kHz at 1.5V, the new low-voltage 24VL014, 24VL014H, 24VL024, 24VL024H and 24VL025 EEPROMs are ideal for designers looking to maximise battery life in their portable and handheld applications. Their very low voltages make a major contribution to reducing power consumption and extending the useful life of the battery. Application examples include low-voltage DIMM modules in laptop computers, as well as wireless keyboards, mice, headsets and remote controls.

Packaging & Availability
The 24VL014, 24VL014H, 24VL024, 24VL024H and 24VL025E are available in an 8-pin SOIC, MSOP, PDIP and 2 mm x 3 mm TDFN packages.

Microchip’s very low voltage EEPROM devices are supported by the MPLAB® Starter Kit for Serial Memory Products (P/N DV243003). The kit includes the MPLAB Starter Kit board for serial memory products, a serial EEPROM starter pack, a USB cable, and a CD containing the MPLAB IDE, Total Endurance™ software model and a serial EEPROM interface tool.
