Telefunken Semiconductors - Microsite

TELEFUNKEN Semiconductors

Public and governmental concerns for the environment are driving the need to minimise energy consumption in every aspect of modern living, not least in electronic systems. Regulatory programs such as Energy Star in the United States and Code of Conduct in Europe demand stringent energy efficiencies from electronic devices. Advances in integrated circuit technology are essential if the next generation of electronic products is to achieve the performance levels required. Telefunken Semiconductors, one of Germany’s technological pioneers, has uniquely positioned itself to address this requirement. Its propriety analog process technology and innovative circuit architecture is realized in devices for;

  • Ultra efficient power management
  • Reliable, low power,  high-speed distribution of data and video

DC/DC converters and LED drivers
Telefunken’s proprietary Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) process eliminates leakage currents, minimises parasitic elements and operates at high temperature. SOI technology is at the heart of the company’s families of DC/DC converters and LED drivers, which realise levels of robustness, reliability and power efficiency not achievable with contemporary technologies.

Converting  AC power
Telefunken is addressing the challenge of efficiently converting the AC power delivered by a local utility into the DC power required by modern electronic appliances. Its TS700 process uniquely combines sub-micron CMOS technology with high voltage NMOS power transistors on the same silicon substrate. The higher circuit density is achieved thanks to a second metal layer, enabling increased functionality to be incorporated into high power applications.

High-speed data and video distribution
The ever increasing demand for high-speed data and high-resolution media continue to challenge the communications industry. Telefunken is addressing this challenge with targeted solutions that increase bandwidth, reduce bit-errors, and yet maintain the lowest power consumption:
Telefunken’s xtended™ common mode Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) devices boost bandwidth and add noise margin in distributed systems such as Industrial, automotive and box-to-box infrastructures.
Application adapted edge rate control available on Telefunken’s M-LVDS devices reduces EMI while improving noise margin in telecom backplanes.
The company’s Interface devices simultaneously achieve the industry’s lowest power consumption and lowest jitter.

TELEFUNKEN Semiconductors has its headquarters in Heilbronn Germany and has Development Centres in Dover, New Hampshire USA, Hannover, Germany and Santa Clara, California USA.
